The Regional Center for Teaching Space Science and Technology for West Asia and Princess Sumaya University for Technology signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday at the Royal Geographical Center building that seeks to achieve common goals between the two sides and develop the skills and knowledge of researchers, university professors and scientific research scientists in space science and space communications curricula.
The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Regional Center by the Director General, Colonel Eng. Muammar Kamel Haddadin, and on behalf of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Acting President of the University, Prof. Dr. Wejdan Abu Al Haija, in the presence of a number of officials from both parties.
The memorandum included strengthening aspects of cooperation in the joint scientific and academic fields and in the field of space science and technology to develop and build capacities in the field of space science and satellite technology through conducting joint projects and research in communications sciences, space navigation systems, monitoring and control of climate changes, in addition to astronomy, space physics and the atmosphere. , as well as the specializations of artificial intelligence, big data analysis and information technology in the field of space science and technology, and granting joint scientific degrees (diploma – bachelors – masters).
Colonel Al-Haddadin highlighted the importance of the partnership between the regional center and Princess Sumaya University through holding training courses and implementing joint scientific projects and research, stressing that the goals and mission of the center are consistent with the university’s mission and goals in the field of space sciences and the development of these sciences, through the many academic programs offered by the center. And short and long training courses and the conclusion of many agreements with national and international institutions, praising the distinguished scientific reputation enjoyed by Princess Sumaya University for Technology in supporting the process of higher education, expressing his hope for the continuation of cooperation due to the university’s scientific and research status.
Haddadin pointed out that partnership with the private educational sector comes through the exchange of experiences and the conclusion of such agreements and memoranda of understanding, which are positively reflected on both parties and the employment of information and knowledge available to serve the community.
For her part, Dr. Abu Al-Hija said that cooperation with the Regional Center for Teaching Space Science and Technology for West Asia would advance scientific, technical and training knowledge and benefit from the expertise that the center enjoys in the fields of space sciences and astronomy.
She stressed the university’s readiness to provide everything possible for the success of this cooperation and to support capacity building of students, researchers and faculty at the university, in order to improve the quality of academic and research outputs. The existing strategy between the university and national institutions, whether public or private.
